- 1. ) “Quebec Landscape Watercolour by Georges Chavignaud,(1865 – 1944) Born in Brittany, France, he watched Corot paint as a boy and later came under the influence of this artist. He came to Canada first in 1884. He became Principal of the Victoria School of Art and Design, Halifax, a post he held from 1912 to 1916. He was a founding member of the Arts and Letters Club, Toronto, and a member of the Ontario Society of Artists. He is represented in the National Gallery of Canada. This scene was painted on Isle de Orleans, Quebec. Signed and dated 1920 on the front left. Archival framing. In excellent, original condition. Image size 9 ½” x 15 ½”. Framed 16 ¾” x 22 ¾”. Please note that it was under glass when photographed so there are slight reflections on the image. Not very noticeable, but non the less there.
