 Pine Store Counter

PhilShadfly Folk Art Gallery and Antiques is located in Port Dover, Ontario

Solid pine store counter meant to be used perpendicular  to a right facing wall. You can see that the right end is not tongue and groove like the end that shows.  It came from an old dry goods store in Norfolk county, Ontario and dates to the first quarter of the 20 century.  The back is open but has a partial shelf which you can see lying on the floor of the piece in the shot of the inside. At some point it has been dry scrapped  down to the wood and remnant of the original stain, and a preserving coat of lacquer applied. It has a good, natural aged pine patina.  You can see that people had bashed their leg against the corner enough times that somebody had the presence of mind to cut it off to make it blunt.  All this goes to enforce it's simple funky character.  Solid and a good height for use.  60 1/2" wide, 23" deep, 34" tall.
