Small naive carving from Quebec of a woman reading the journal. Not signed. I am pretty sure that I recognize the work, but for the life of me I can't bring up the name. Research in books and on line didn't come up with anything. If anybody knows can they please e-mail me, and I'll update it. That being said, it doesn't matter much as it is a fine, expressive folk carving in excellent condition. 7" tall, 3" wide, 4" deep.
Shortly after I listed this I was very happy to received an e-mail from a collector friend who identified the artist as Leo Lachance, of Beauceville, Quebec. circa 1970-80. Thanks Manny.
