This large, expressive, and accomplished carving is carved all in one piece. It was bought in an art gallery in Charleston, S.C. about thirty years ago. It is by an unknown artist and is dated to the 1st quarter of the 20th century. It has a beautiful untouched patina. Excellent condition with the obvious exception of the age crack in the base. This crack is old and stable and doesn't bother me, but it would be easy to repair if desired. It is not heavy for it's size, so I assume it must be a softwood. 27" long, 10" wide, 28" tall.
