Peter Powning, Raku Fired Vase, 1981
11.75" high x 8" wide, 5" opening at top. Signed and dated LXI (1981), CAN, on bottom
Peter Powning has lived and worked in the southern hills of New Brunswick since the 1970s. While Powning's work is shown internationally, it is imbued with qualities from a life lived close to the seasonal rhythms of his home: the fields, forests and shorelines of Canada’s east coast. Powning is the 2006 Sadye Bronfman Award recipient, and in 2014 he was awarded an honourary doctorate degree by the University of New Brunswick.
