Listed in several books on Canadian folk art, by all accounts, George Cocayne led a lonely and difficult life on his farm near Madoc, in Prince Edward County, Ontario. 1906-1976. He made a wide variety of strange creatures to decorate his yard including this head. His carvings are rarely available. Carved and enamel painted wood. Excellent condition. From the Patricia Price Collection. 12 1/2" tall, 6 1/2" wide, 6 1/2" deep including his nose.
