Superb Pennsylvania German broadside, printed by Carl Augustus Bruckman in Reading, Pennsylvania about 1820. The detailed woodcut depicting Eve being seduced by the serpent was one probable source of inspiration for later free-hand drawings of Adam and Eve by Ontario Fraktur artist Joseph Bauman. The piece is in incredible condition for its age, with relatively minor foxing and water-staining. There are no obvious fold marks and the watercolor illumination retains its original vibrancy. The broadside appears to have been rolled up for many years, producing some crazing to the paper that can be viewed in the accompanying images. Measures approximately 15 1/2" X 13".
