This rare lithograph of Adam and Eve by the famous French publisher Frederic Wentzel was printed in Wissembourg, France, circa 1850. It is titled in Yiddish, French, German and English, indicating that Wentzel intended to market it internationally and to the Jewish community. The title in English is "The fall of the first man." What is remarkable about this piece is that it is not among the hundreds of lithographs deposited by Wentzel with the French authorities (now in the "Cabinet des Estampes" of the French National Library). I have not seen it reported elsewhere, either. It is one of only a handful of popular antique prints of Adam and Eve ever published in Europe. Measures approximately 15 1/2" X 17 1/2" framed.
