GEORGIAN STEEL FOOTMAN
An antique Georgian era steel footman having robust cabriole legs with penny feet at front and thin rounded legs at rear. The front skirt is shaped like a bat in flight. 3 flat crossbars span the top with the middle one shaped like a bowtie. Found in Ontario but Welsh in origin. Dates 1820’s to 1830’s.
Approximate measurement in inches: 15.25 wide, 15.25 deep including the legs, 11.00 deep at the top and 13.25 high. This piece is very heavy so pick up in Oakville only.
Footmen were used in the parlour rather than the kitchen and would act as a stand for a kettle or to warm plates.
