Rca Victor Dog "His Master’S Voice/Nipper"

CheviotIsleAntiquesCheviot Isle Antiques is located in Oakville, Ontario

A straw-filled plush toy of the RCA Victor dog “NIPPER”. Has it’s original collar with shiny metal buckle and on the back “NIPPER” above RCA VICTOR, the latter bracketed by an RCA symbol on the left and the His Master’s Voice symbol on the right. There is some wear around the top of the ears but overall completely intact with collar, button eyes, nose, tiny tail and little red felt tongue. Stands approx. 9 ½ inches high and is really cute. Nipper, based on a real dog of fox terrier mix who was found on the streets of Bristol in the U.K., was immortalized after his death in a painting done around 1898. Nipper became an RCA symbol when Victor joined RCA in 1929. There are many new versions of Nipper in various materials but this is an older one. I don’t know the exact age but believe it would date from the 1940’s.
