ANTIQUE NEWEL POST

An urn-shaped newel post with an acorn finial and fluted sides mortised into a square base. Decorative carving around lip. Carved birch. The upper portion of the top still retains its original stain and varnish finish. From a farmhouse northwest of Hespeler, Ontario.  Late 1800's. Approx. size in inches: 6.25 H. x 5.0 W. across top x 3.25 at base.
