A George III burr walnut Pembroke table. The D-shaped sides supported when raised by a pair of butterfly shaped boards, 2 per side, that swing out on wooden dowels. One long drawer running about two-thirds of the length of the table with a faux drawer at the opposite end. Drawer fronts veneered with flame mahogany and feature new lions head brass pulls but there are 3 of the original pulls included along with 2 of their back plates. See photo.
Legs taper in the Hepplewhite manner and terminate in the original brass cup castors. Legs and skirt are solid mahogany. The finish is dry and original. Probably waxed at some point but no lacquer or French polishing.
Underside of drawer signed illegibly in blue carpenter's pencil.
Minor trim loss around drawers. No other flaws evident. Measures approx. in inches: 34.25 long x 28.75 high x 22.5 wide closed/32.5 when leaves up. Dates circa 1790. Found in Montreal.
The table can be viewed by appointment here in Oakville.
