This mid to late 19th century cast iron folk art deer was a paperweight, ornament or even a door stop. The figure measures app. 3 1/4" tall and 3" long. The styling is reminiscent of early 19th century chalkware, especially so with the exaggerated antlers. The figures has a dark green base and a mustard coloured deer. The surface is all original paint having a great patina and typical paint wear from age and use.. There are no chips, cracks, cracks or repairs. The gate mark from the foundry can be seen under the base.
