19th Century Early Lighting 'Ipswich Betty' Grease Lamp

hammiWendy Hamilton Antiques is located in Collingwood, Ontario

This 19th century combination of a tin betty with a tin 'tidy' or stand designed to fit the lamp, is attributed to the Ipswich region in Massachusetts. It burned fat or grease using a twisted piece of cotton as a wick. The saucer would catch any drips. The saucer base has an attached strap ring handle and a cylinder form stem.
The lamp retains the original hanging hook.
