This is a beautifully made, elegant, solid walnut tilt-top table from the Niagara peninsula in excellent condition. Circa 1820. Hard to imagine, but the top is a single plank 27" wide. It appears to be the original hardware and still works well to hold the top firmly. It is a very old, if not original finish. The top seems to have been "cleaned" down a bit at some point, but not excessively. There is evidence that the supports underneath have been switched ninety degrees at some point. if you look carefully at the shot of the top you can see that there is a slight ridge in the surface which is stable and is not a crack which might open. 48" tall when upright, 27" tall when down. When the top is upright it is 23" deep because of the rear foot.
