This unique wood carving was bought in Indonesia and brought back to the home of a Canadian collector about 25 years ago. It's function was to have sat in the front point of the bow of the boat, and act as a good luck talisman to attract fish. It represents a fish caching bird with a fish in it's mouth. The tail feathers can be removed for when it is transported. It is in excellent condition. Maker unknown, circa 1970. Approximately 27" wide, 39" tall, and 43" deep when the feathers are in. The body without feathers is 23" deep.
