I imagine that he two round shapes at the front of this Norfolk County, Ont. clock shelf are for candlesticks. Makes sense but I can't remember seeing it before. I'm quite certain it is made of butternut, because although it looks like walnut where it is finished, it is quite blond on the back. Terrific, untouched surface. Circa 1860. Excellent original condition. 24 1/2" wide, 8 1/2 tall, 8 1/2" deep.
