STERLING SILVER LOUIS XIV CREAMER BY TOWLE SILVERSMITHS
A lovely sterling creamer with gilded interior bearing the following marks: “Louis XIV/Patented/March 17, 1925” as well as the Towle sterling touchmark of a rampant lion facing right in a stylized T, and “Sterling/72160”. On one face of the creamer is a stylized “J”. The condition is excellent with no dents or bends and it measures about 4 ¼” inches high. Age 1925 to 1930.
This company was established by William Moulton II who was born in 1664. The touchmark on this piece was first used about 1890 and was designed by Anthony Towle based on the Towle coat of arms.
