F.W. SPANENBERG CANADIAN STERLING CANDY DISH
This lovely canoe-shaped dish bears the mark of F. W. Spanenberg, a watchmaker, jeweler, & silversmith located at 347 King St. E., Kingston, Ontario. His known working period was 1870 to 1887. The company was later bought by Henry Birks.
Impressed marks on the underside: “(a stag’s head in relief), RW & S/Sterling/108”. Although his mark does not exactly correspond with his name it is firmly ascribed to him in the following reference material.
There is a delicate, lacy, decorative edge to the dish. Measures approx. 8 ¼” inches by 2 ¾” inches. In great condition for its age with no dints.
