A parian bust of Napolean the Third encased under glass, in a deep shadow- box, round, ebonized frame with gilded inner border. The white bust & back ground is in sharp contrast to the black velvet border that surrounds it. Frame is approx.. 5” round & 1 ½” deep. There is a string on back for hanging.
This bust was created to commemorate a visit by Napolean III to Queen Victoria. This was likely the visit in August 1857 when Napolean needed to reassure Palmerston on some critical French positions.
