Listed in several books on Canadian folk art, by all accounts, George Cocayne led a lonely and difficult life on his farm near Madoc, in Prince Edward County, Ontario. 1906-1976. He made a wide variety of strange creatures to decorate his yard including this head. His carvings are rarely available. Carved and enamel painted wood. Excellent condition.
