Spectacular Fraktur from Waterloo County, Ontario. Professionally mounted by certified paper conservator in period, gold-leafed frame!!! This elaborately decorated, antique, folk art masterpiece records the birth of Anna Catharina Bitzer, in Preston (present-day Cambridge) on June 14, 1849. It is attributed to folk artist Samuel S. Brubacher, a Pennsylvania German Mennonite who farmed on the outskirts of Berlin (present day Kitchener) and who practised Fraktur and Scherenschnitte (Pennsylvania German Paper Cutting) as a sideline to farming. The dimensions of Anna Catharina Bitzer's birth certificate are 11" X 14" unframed and 16" X 19" framed.
