Stoneware jug: E.J. PALMER GENERAL MERCHANT GRIMSBY ONT. Edgar was born in 1837 on the escarpment in the township of Grimsby. His family came over from New Jersey as United Empire Loyalists after 1790, where they received a crown grant of 200 acres. Edgar Judson Palmer conducted business with Alexander Allen of Beamsville. His firm was as a prominent merchant in the district. His stoneware is rare to find. Height is 12 1/2 inches. Over-paint removed.
