An early Acadian dough box from Riviere Verte (Green River), New Brunswick. Constructed from local pine in the post & panel manner with all joints pegged. The legs are chamfered & ascend to lambs’ tongues. Wearing it’s original oxblood red paint on 3 sides whereas the wall side is unpainted but is darkened with age. The panels are recessed on 3 sides. It never had a lid. Provenance: Arnold Family, U.E.L.
Approx. size: 44” W.; x 26 ½” H.; x 22 ¼” D. Age: 1790-1820.
