Wool winders are fairly utilitarian objects but this one has an exceptional form & surface. Pegged construction with chamfered posts, robust turnings and wearing its original dark oxblood colour. Raised on 4 shaped feet. No nails used. All pegged & mortised construction. The 2 pegs at the top of the vertical posts are absent and the handle is quite likely an early replacement as you can see in the picture but otherwise in excellent condition & still usable for its original purpose. Approx. size 24” W. x 24” H. x 17” D. Dating 1840-70.
